A lot of people say they can’t do CrossFit because it’s too intense, they don’t have the time, don’t have the money, aren’t in good enough shape, etc. I remember making those excuses because I was nervous about trying it out. Well, here is some inspiration from Kyle Maynard. He has no arms and no legs. He is a mixed martial arts fighter and an avid CrossFitter. He is proof that if you really want something bad enough, especially when it comes to fitness, all you have to do is go and get it. Kyle competed in the CrossFit Games Georgia sectionals last year. Here are some videos of him:

Tom Naughton, from the documentary Fathead, gave a lecture this past week called Big Fat Fiasco. It’s available to watch on his website: http://bit.ly/a7QGxE
It’s an excellent summary of the woeful state of modern nutritional science and a great intro into cleaning up your dietary habits.
For those that want a good weekend workout, we’ll be meeting tomorrow at CFB for a SUNDAY WOD. Stay tuned for details.

I was sitting with some guys at work the other day and one of them mentioned that his wife was about to start the Atkins Diet. I displayed my approval, but one of the other guys mentioned that he heard the Atkins Diet causes heart disease. I replied that, though it was a common myth, the Atkins Diet does not cause heart disease. The guy answered by saying, “I don’t know how it couldn’t, you’re just eating fat.” Exactly. I explained to him that heart disease is not caused by dietary fat. In fact, the exact opposite is true. I told him about all the studies that backed up what I was saying and explained how this myth got started. If you haven’t heard this story, pull up a seat, skip the popcorn and grab some beef jerky. Heart disease is one of the top killers in the US and this myth has only made it worse. It’s time to set the record straight.
